MDM with DoHzel#

Introduction#

When managing an IT infrastructure, it is crucial to be able to deploy software across the entire fleet. DoHzel has been designed to enable mass deployment. However, the variety of MDM (Mobile Device Management) providers requires a different approach for each of them.

There is, however, a commonality in deploying DoHzel across any MDM: a granular approach and a flattened approach.

Deployment Approaches#

Granular Approach#

In the granular approach, each device has its own MDM context. This allows each user or device manager to tailor the configuration (especially security) to the specific device. This approach provides great granularity and is the recommended approach.

Flattened Approach#

In the flattened approach, devices are enrolled under the same DNS routing identifiers. In some cases, this can simplify the configuration; however, it greatly reduces the technical capabilities of DoHzel. This approach is less recommended.

Profile Enrollment#

It is important to note that enrolling devices in a profile from the DoHzel console is not mandatory. However, this practice is highly recommended as it allows for better management of the devices later on. Enrolling in a DoHzel profile makes it easier to track, configure, and enforce security policies on devices in a centralized manner.

This section clearly explains that while profile enrollment is not required, it is strongly advised to optimize device management.

Supported Providers#

DoHzel supports the following MDM providers:
